Autonomous Engineering Organization

Engineering Your Mission.

Field Echelon is an autonomous engineering organization that discovers, designs, builds, independently verifies, deploys, operates, and continuously improves software in pursuit of a Client's mission.

Currently proving the model on real software.

The Client Promise

Give us the mission.

We discover, build, verify, deploy, and improve the solution.

Field Echelon is being designed around ownership of the engineering mission rather than requiring the Client to supervise a sequence of temporary coding sessions or individual AI workers.

The Client defines the objective. Field Echelon organizes and executes the engineering work required to pursue it.

The Method

How It Works

Disciplined progress from the first question through the responsibility to improve what is running.

  1. 01

    Discover

Understand the mission, environment, constraints, risks, and existing system before deciding what should be built.

  2. 02

    Design

Translate the mission into architecture, execution boundaries, acceptance criteria, and an actionable engineering plan.

  3. 03

    Build

Execute the work with specialized engineering capability and persistent state beyond a single interaction.

  4. 04

    Independently Verify

Work is inspected separately from the process that produced it before acceptance.

  5. 05

    Deploy

Move approved work through controlled environments and evidence-based release gates.

  6. 06

    Operate

Treat reliability, recovery, observability, and maintenance as part of engineering responsibility.

  7. 07

    Improve

Continue learning from the system, the Client, and the external technical environment.

A Different Standard

Beyond the Coding Session

Persistent Execution

Engineering work should not disappear when a chat session ends. Field Echelon is being designed around durable work, state, recovery, and continuation.

Independent Verification

The system that builds the work should not be the only system deciding whether that work is acceptable.

Mission Ownership

The Client provides the objective. Field Echelon organizes the engineering effort required to pursue it.

Continuous Improvement

Deployment is not the finish line. Operation, evidence, learning, repair, and improvement are part of the mission.

Current Evidence

What We’re Proving

Field Echelon is being proven on real software before being presented as a finished mass-market engineering organization.

Proved

  • Real software development against an operating business platform.
  • Multi-role engineering workflows.
  • Independent review as a separate responsibility from build execution.
  • Evidence-gated acceptance practices.
  • Persistent engineering state and structured recovery have been actively developed and tested.

Currently Proving

  • Longer-duration autonomous work without the founder acting as the message bus.
  • Reliable build → independent verification → repair → acceptance loops.
  • Persistent orchestration and recovery across engineering work.
  • Clear authority boundaries between engineering roles.
  • Controlled deployment and operational responsibility.

Planned / Expanding

  • Broader Client mission intake.
  • Repeatable onboarding of additional software projects.
  • Generalized specialist engineering capability.
  • More complete operational and reporting interfaces.

Client / Project #1

NexTeam

NexTeam is Field Echelon’s first Client/Project.

NexTeam is an AI-first operating platform for field-service businesses that originated from the operational needs of Aquatrace Swimming Pool Leak Detection.

Its development provides Field Echelon with a real software system, real business workflows, real operational constraints, and a real environment in which to prove persistent engineering, independent verification, repair, deployment discipline, and continuous improvement.

Field Echelon is not being designed in a vacuum.

Built by an Operator Who Learned the Systems the Work Required

Chris Sears is a field-service business owner and self-taught systems builder whose career has moved through commercial construction, low-voltage and life-safety systems, enterprise networking, specialized field service, software product development, and autonomous engineering.

He began in commercial construction at eighteen and was supervising projects within roughly a year. Later, as low-voltage systems moved onto IP networks, he taught himself enterprise networking while traveling for field work and ultimately designed a structured VLAN and IP-addressing architecture for a major national account.

In 2020, Chris launched Aquatrace Swimming Pool Leak Detection. Frustration with fragmented field-service software eventually led him to build NexTeam.

Developing NexTeam exposed another problem: AI could generate software, but the human owner was still too often acting as the supervisor, continuity layer, and message bus. Field Echelon grew from that problem.

The recurring pattern has been simple: when the work requires a system Chris does not yet understand, he learns it, tests it, and builds what the work demands.

The Philosophy

As Iron Sharpens Iron,
Intelligence Sharpens Intelligence.

Field Echelon’s aim is not AI for its own sake. It is disciplined engineering in which systems, specialists, evidence, and independent review sharpen one another toward the Client’s mission.

Fe is the chemical symbol for iron. 26 is iron’s atomic number and a secondary Field Echelon brand code.
